A Massachusetts man has been taken into custody Friday after he allegedly threw McDonald's french fries at his 11-year-old stepdaughter.
James Hackett was dining at the fast food restaurant with his wife and the girl when an argument over money ensued, according to the police report obtained by The Smoking Gun.
When the young girl interjected, Hackett grew increasingly angry, leading him to throw "hot and oily" fries that struck her in the face and chest.
Although the girl was unhurt, Hackett, 26, is facing assault and battery charges for using the fries as a weapon because they could have caused burns.
Following the incident in the car, Hackett pulled the car over and fled the scene on motorcycle, according to the Daily Mail. It was then that Hackett's wife- the girl's mother- called the police.
Hackett is currently free on bail after pleading not guilty on Monday. His next court appearance is scheduled for August. Moreover, he was forbidden to see his stepdaughter until that time.

Many online readers have commented on Hackett's arrest, with opinions divided on the severity of his actions that resulted in his arrest.
"What was he charged with," asked Magus on HuffingtonPost.com. "Assault with a deadly spud. 'Hot and oily' fries could have caused damage? Give me a break. When did you ever get 'hot' fries from McDonalds?"
bMitche pointed out, "It doesn't matter that they were french fries. This only proves that this man is emotionally and physically abusive. If he doesn't get help, I hope this child is taken out of his custody."
"OK, I will believe that the fries were oily but hot… not so much," wrote Jperin. "It does sound like this guy is a major tool and should get some anger management assistance."
